	• Manufacturer: Precision Series • SKU: 342951 • UPC: 606949240226 • Shipping: $1.18 • Description: Toadies: Todd Lewis (vocals, guitar); Darrel Herbert (guitar); Lisa Umbarger (bass); Mark Reznicek (drums). Recorded at Record Two Mendocino, Mendocino, California and Sunset Sound Factory, Hollywood, California. If you swear by Faith No More, if the musical stylings of those fun-loving Chili Peppers really get the blood moving through your veins, if the Sex Pistols are your idea of a great band from the past (and why shouldn't they be?)--well, podna', allow us to introduce you to Toadies. No, not "The" Toadies. Just Toadies, thank you, and leave your eardrums at the door. This Fort Worth hard-core quartet serve up a singular brand of punky blues: lots of noisy, guitar-centered songs, and a healthy dose of irony. In other words, these guys don't take themselves too seriously, and RUBBERNECK is all the better for it. Take "Possum Kingdom," in which Todd Lewis pitches his woo with more than a hint of sarcasm--or is it? "I'm not gonna lie/I'll not be a gentleman/Behind the boathouse/I'll show you my dark secret..." Behind the boathouse, behind it all, the band churns, slow and funky, while a whining, circular guitar riff almost seems to mock the proceedings. There's more than a little Nirvana influence--Andy Wallace, who worked on that band's seminal "Nevermind," also did the mixing chores here. This is Alternative Rock that doesn't sound like all the other Alternative Rock out there, mainly because the band has a knack for stringing together simple but devastatingly effective rock hooks. Witness "Tyler," another track that showcases Toadies' ability to explode out of a spare, bass-driven pulse, into a brutal wash of cloudy guitars and loops of feedback. Audio Mixers: Eric White; Andy Wallace. Recording information: Record Two Mendocino, Mendocino, CA; Sunset Sound Factory, Hollywood, CA. Photographer: Michael Lavine. The Toadies' debut album is a streamlined version of the Pixies' warped guitar rock and Nirvana's throttling grunge. It results in some good moments, particularly the single "Possum Kingdom." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday because for many retailers it was the day they went from being in the red to being in the black when they became profitable for the year. It is also the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, and Black Friday has become known for some of the best bargains, discounts and deals of the entire year! Everyone has watched stampeding crowds on the local news or diehard bargain hunters camping out overnight so they can be among the first to grab limited black friday specials at their favorite local retailers... However, if you prefer doing your holiday discount shopping from the warm and cozy comfort of home, then Cyber Monday was designed with you in mind! Online retailers spotted the Black Friday frenzy sweeping across the country as it took over brick and mortar locations - rather than compete for your black friday attention, they concocted a day that is all their own and named it Cyber Monday! The Monday after Thanksgiving is when your favorite online stores slash prices and offer their very best prices to help usher in the online holiday shopping season! That means big savings for you whether you choose to brave the local crowds on Black Friday or avoid the madness by browsing online during Cyber Monday Sales! Not to worry - the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving might get the most attention for discount holiday shopping, but if you procrastinate beyond that magical bargain hunting window it doesn't mean you will be completely left out... In fact, this promises to be an exceptionally consumer-friendly holiday shopping season with sales, coupons and discounts extending far beyond Black Friday and Cyber Monday and allowing you to find the best prices on holiday gifts until the very last minute! Hoping to avoid discount shopping withdrawal? Even after Christmas and Hanukkah have come and gone, you'll still have After Holiday Specials to help usher in the New Year!
