A native of Edmonton, she started to gain experience as a performer in the mid 1970's, when she began playing coffeehouses, folk clubs and concerts. Hanging with peers and learning the craftsmanship of accompanying oneself on guitar and shaping songs gave her the resources to record a handful of superb recordings. Albums like No Covers and Breaking Ground find her warm voice weaving its way through arrangements that broaden the folksinger songwriter idiom as jazz and electric instrumentation envelop songs that project images of travel and experience." Peter North - liner notes from Smithsonian Folkways 'Wild Roses Northern Lights' Terry has performed at many Canadian folk fests and toured extensively throughout North America. She has 4 CD's of original music to her credit and is featured on a number of compilations including the recently released Smithsonian Folkways recording 'Wild Roses Northern Lights'. She is a member of the Christmas Carol Project a production that has become an hour long Christmas special for Bravo! television. Her music is played on CKUA, CBC, numerous college stations across Canada as well as radio stations in Europe and the USA. Her voice is rich and deep, her melodies, rhythm and lyrics, strong and uniquely her own. "It was a real treat to hear her smooth up to the highter notes, or do it all raspy. She had great control over her voice and you couldn't help but anticipate her amazingly clear booming low notes." Kelly Korpesio - The Gateway "Her vocal dynamics ran smoothly from whispers to husky undertones and soaring quavers, with delicate pacing and simple, but effective, chord progressions. A new road tune suggests her pen is churning out some gems, as well." "....one of the most intellectually compelling songwriters in town..." " Morrison's gift for painting aural pictures gives way to an aching intensity at points... 'High Mileage Soul' is the best testament yet that Morrison's acute musical observations should be heard" Roger Levesque - Edmonton Journal "As a seasoned musician and confirmed high - mileage soul, Morrison knows how to appreciate life's finer points - and how to communicate that love through her music...her vibrant and colourful arrangements have a warmth and integrity youth will never know." Jenny Feniak - Vue Weekly "Armed with a large volume of original work, Morrison sings from the heart and writes material that finds her voice and acoustic guitar enveloping the crowd. Deep sounding, and smooth but imaginatively delivered vocals, make here one of the better solo acts in town." "Morrison has good reason to feel her music is finally reaching more and more folks via the grassroots promotion approach. Many of us feel it's about time she got her due." Peter North
