	• Manufacturer: AEC • SKU: 17387791 • UPC: 888295075039 • Shipping: $0.87 • Description: On Traditional Duets Lynda Dawson and Pattie Hopkins pay homage to their bluegrass and roots musical role models by exploring new interpretations of heartfelt songs from the past. Inspired by pioneers Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard to step out of the full Kickin Grass Band as a female duet, the gals chose for their first recording to go back to their roots and put their our own spin on favorite songs, some familiar and some obscure-songs learned from listening to folks like Bill Monroe, the Carter Family, Hazel and Alice, Doc Watson, the Everly Brothers and others. The result is a classic album full of tight female harmonies, soulful vocals and the honest fiddling and guitar playing that only a stripped down duo arrangement can allow. In December 2013 Lynda and Pattie raised over $11k via Kickstarter and independent backers to fund Traditional Duets. They recorded all 13 tracks over 3 days in early January 2014 at Mitch Easter's Fidelitorium studio in Kernersville, NC with Jason Richmond as sound and mixing engineer. The album was mastered by Lurssen Mastering (O'Brother Where Art Thou; Alison Krauss and Robert Plant) and packaging designed by Gamil, with original handcarved woodcut guitar and fiddle prints by Sally Mullikin. "I heard just the two of them play, fiddle and guitar, in a small and intimate setting perfectly suited to what they were doing. And what they were doing was singing some of the most beautiful and traditional duets, the best renditions since Alice and Hazel. Overwhelming would be an understatement." - George B. McCeney "Singing songs of death and loss, redemption and revival, singer and guitarist Lynda Dawson...writes in a powerfully traditional style that matches her achingly sincere vocal style...and fiddler Pattie Hopkins has a strong streak of the blues in her playing." - Bluegrass Unlimited 'Though their music hails from Appalachia, it drifts as much as it races, gentle melodic glow glimmering like twilight on a metal bumper. The arrangements are warm and energetic, with strains of bluegrass, Celtic, gospel and country. Those elements are just the icing. The cake itself is the vocals, particularly the harmonizing of the [Kickin Grass Band] quintet's females, guitarist Lynda Dawson and fiddler Pattie Hopkins.' - Chris Parker, The Independent Weekly

It is also the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, and Black Friday has become known for some of the best bargains, discounts and deals of the entire year! Everyone has watched stampeding crowds on the local news or diehard bargain hunters camping out overnight so they can be among the first to grab limited black friday specials at their favorite local retailers... However, if you prefer doing your holiday discount shopping from the warm and cozy comfort of home, then Cyber Monday was designed with you in mind! Online retailers spotted the Black Friday frenzy sweeping across the country as it took over brick and mortar locations - rather than compete for your black friday attention, they concocted a day that is all their own and named it Cyber Monday! That means big savings for you whether you choose to brave the local crowds on Black Friday or avoid the madness by browsing online during Cyber Monday Sales! Not to worry - the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving might get the most attention for discount holiday shopping, but if you procrastinate beyond that magical bargain hunting window it doesn't mean you will be completely left out... In fact, this promises to be an exceptionally consumer-friendly holiday shopping season with sales, coupons and discounts extending far beyond Black Friday and Cyber Monday and allowing you to find the best prices on holiday gifts until the very last minute! Hoping to avoid discount shopping withdrawal? Even after Christmas and Hanukkah have come and gone, you'll still have After Holiday Specials to help usher in the New Year!
