He began writing songs at 12 and his style has swung from aggressive Christian pop sound when he led the Nashville based band Goofyfooted. Later he and his wife started the worship duo, "All New Creation" where his music style remains more reflective and worshipful. John was also a pastor of a large church in Western Montana where he grew up as well as started a number of churches in MT, MN & ND. His "success" in the music and church world was shadowed however by real pain, hurt, and sin within himself. Following an arrest and loss of his ministry he battled to heal his soul, marriage, and family. After years of a painful sojourn from failure to freedom John has come back stronger. He and his wife are still married and although they still have their struggles God has truly shown amazing grace. Parts of his journey he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy but other parts wouldn't trade for the world. John's passion now is to be a vessel for opening doors to freedom with so many people battling sexual sin in their life, especially pastors who have no place to turn. "Coming clean" with sin in the church and especially in leadership is risky and often has huge consequences in doing so. To often those risks nurture an environment of dishonesty, cover-ups, and walls especially in the church. However, healing only comes when failures are exposed, repented of, and the commitment to the long path back. The bridge of reconciliation with Jesus is as instant as the loving arms of the prodigal father running to embrace his lost son. However the journey within marriage, family, friends, and the church is a much more complex, painful, and exhausting journey. Throughout this voyage the Lord continued to give John songs that spoke to this struggle for redemption and healing. His solo project is honest, open, and full of truth. Although it may not necessarily be his best work, its his most important. He is currently finishing his book entitled, "Second Chance Faith" in hopes that he can help others find freedom from their failures. He is also working on new music with his wife and All New Creation. John and his wife Heather currently live in a town a little over 100 people in central North Dakota along with their 3 wonderful children. God restored him in so many ways including being able to pastor again alongside his father who has been in the ministry for over 45 years. He is grateful to have an amazing church that allows a fallen pastor to lead fallen people in worship and praise to the God of the second chance. |
