What's up with THAT?! In the summer of 2004, we scraped up enough cash for a one-day recording session at Zero Return Studio in Atlanta. 10 hours, 13 songs recorded live on tape, no room for mistakes. Yeah, we may have been punks, but at least we knew how to play our instruments. We had a great time that day, but man, it was a lot of work. Once we got the tape, we had to scrape up more bucks to get it mastered and put on to CD. That took a couple of weeks. Once we finally got the CD master, we didn't know what to do with it, but we did have a friend who agreed to print out a short-run of a hundred or so for promo purposes. At the time we were gigging regularly in Atlanta. No, we weren't getting paid much (if at all), but we were always invited back because we were...what you call....professionals. We may not have drawn big crowds, but we had our regulars and the bartenders liked us as did the sound guys. We actually had a reputation for being 'Nice Punks' - whatever that means. So then, before we knew it, the wave of fun broke. Work had to be taken more seriously, babies had to be made, hairstyles change, and the Crumsy Pirates eventually went into dry dock. A decade later, while cleaning out some boxes, we found the Master. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thank you internet. Thank you Diskmakers. Thank you cdbaby. Finally, we can share the way we always wanted to....but is anybody listening? |
