The incredible Johnny Smith whose spotless chops and touch dazzled jazz fans for decades rarely had a classical guitar out of his hands. In a majority of the photos of the mythical Django Reinhardt we see him with a classical guitar in his front room or a gypsy wagon playing finger-style with a smile on his face. The great Nashville guitarist Chet Atkins studied with every guitar players' hero, Andres Segovia until Segovia discovered that he played the electric guitar and then refused to teach him anymore. My own story is not much different except that I became so completely engrossed with classical guitar that I shunned jazz and pop styles for nearly a decade to study with Phil Boroff, (whose great playing is featured on a Segovia CD) and Herbert Stewart, a native Angelino who lived with Segovia in Paris for nearly a decade in the late sixties and early seventies before returning to LA. I took brief road tours with famous rock and pop bands or vocalists just to earn enough money to return to my Silver Lake or Echo park hovel and unplug the phone to focus on the study and practice of this enchanting style. During this period I played solo classical guitar in many Hollywood bistros at night and practiced all day learning new repertoire and also performed solo concerts throughout California. There is just something so magical and soul satisfying about this music for guitar that spans four centuries from the 16th to the 20th, that if you're not careful, you can be completely overtaken by the atmosphere and the mystic. You sit by yourself and your guitar sounds like an orchestra with several melodies floating along at the same time.you play a Pavane from 16th century Spain and it transports you to that place. [Note: This product is an authorized CD-R and is manufactured on demand]

The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday because for many retailers it was the day they went from being in the red to being in the black when they became profitable for the year. It is also the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, and Black Friday has become known for some of the best bargains, discounts and deals of the entire year! Everyone has watched stampeding crowds on the local news or diehard bargain hunters camping out overnight so they can be among the first to grab limited black friday specials at their favorite local retailers... However, if you prefer doing your holiday discount shopping from the warm and cozy comfort of home, then Cyber Monday was designed with you in mind! Online retailers spotted the Black Friday frenzy sweeping across the country as it took over brick and mortar locations - rather than compete for your black friday attention, they concocted a day that is all their own and named it Cyber Monday! The Monday after Thanksgiving is when your favorite online stores slash prices and offer their very best prices to help usher in the online holiday shopping season! That means big savings for you whether you choose to brave the local crowds on Black Friday or avoid the madness by browsing online during Cyber Monday Sales! Not to worry - the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving might get the most attention for discount holiday shopping, but if you procrastinate beyond that magical bargain hunting window it doesn't mean you will be completely left out... In fact, this promises to be an exceptionally consumer-friendly holiday shopping season with sales, coupons and discounts extending far beyond Black Friday and Cyber Monday and allowing you to find the best prices on holiday gifts until the very last minute! Hoping to avoid discount shopping withdrawal? Even after Christmas and Hanukkah have come and gone, you'll still have After Holiday Specials to help usher in the New Year!
